The war that began with a window in Prague ended with years of talks in two towns of Westphalia. Catholic powers met in Münster, Protestant ones in Osnabrück, and messengers rode between them.

The last fight, in Prague

While the envoys talked, a Swedish army surprised Prague in July 1648 and took the castle and the Lesser Town. The Old Town held the far end of the stone bridge, and the Old Town Bridge Tower, the tower where the heads had hung, was fought over for months.

What it settled

The peace was signed on 24 October 1648. For Bohemia it confirmed what the White Mountain had decided: the exiles stayed abroad, and the country stayed Catholic under the Habsburgs.

Questions

Did Bohemia get anything back?

No. The emigrants were not allowed to return, and Bohemia stayed Catholic and Habsburg.
